New Brunswick Board Requirements

Professional Engineers


The continuing education requirements of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB) are provided below:

PDH's Required:
Minimum of 30 PDHs/year
PDH Reporting:
Annual by December 31: Professional Members and Limited Licencees are required to submit their CPD details on an annual basis through the myAPEGNB.com Member portal and are required to maintain a complete record of their continuing professional development program for a period of three years.
License Renewal:
Based on Annual Renewal: You are required to renew your annual membership on-line through the website portal by December 31 of each year.
PDH Categories:
The program allows CPD to be completed in four areas of learning as follows: 
  • Ethical Practice Learning (Mandatory -  2 PDHs per year)
  • Regulatory Learning (Mandatory -  1 PDH per year)
  • Technical Learning (Unlimited)
  • Communication and Leadership Learning (Unlimited)
Note that the same activity cannot be included in more than one category.
Categories Offered by CED:
CEDengineering.ca is qualified to offer Ethical Learning, Regulatory Learning, Technical Learning and Communication and Leadership Learning.
Course Applicability:
Each professional member must identify the best mix of learning to fit their specific roles and responsibilities to maintain competency and meet their obligations as professional members.
PDH Carryover:
PDH credits accumulated in Technical Learning and Communications and Leadership Learning in excess of those claimed in that area may be carried forward for a maximum of one year from the date of original completion. Carryover is not permitted in Ethical Practice Learning or Regulatory Learning as Professional Members and Limited Licencees should refresh their ethical and regulatory knowledge annually.

Professional Land Surveyors


The continuing education requirements of the Association of New Brunswick Land Surveyors (ANBLS) are provided below:

PDH's Required:
The number of credit hours will be determined based on the ANBLS Practicce Review Committee's assssment of your Annual Registrration Form.
PDH Reporting:
Annual by January 31: You are required to maintain and submit a detailed record of your professional development activities by January 31 of every calendar year.
License Renewal:
Annual by January 31: You are required to renew your license by January 31 of every calendar year.
PDH Categories:

The ANBLS monitors your continuing competency through an annual review process, as follows:

  • A Mandatory Continuing Education Program (MCEP) will be established and administered by the Association, facilitated by a Practice Review Committee (PRC) under the direction of the Executive Council (Council).
  • Except for life members, you are required to participate in the MCEP.
  • The MCEP shall include a credit system to be established by the PRC and approved by Council. 
  • The PRC will determine the eligibility of courses and course types, seminars, workshops, Association activities, etc. and establish a point rating for each. The point rating system will be based on the relevancy of the course or activity to the Association and to the practice of Land Surveying.
  • The PRC shall distribute a detailed list of possible course types, seminars, activities etc. to participating members. Members required to participate in the program may recommend other courses, activities etc. to the Committee. These will be reviewed and, if deemed acceptable, will be included in the MCEP.
  • The Association will maintain a current record of points accumulated by each member required to participate in the MCEP.
  • The PRC shall review the Program on an annual basis and present a report to the  Council.
