Loop Method of Circuit Analysis

This engineering online 1 CPD live webinar introduces the Loop Method, a powerful and systematic method of electrical circuit analysis used to find all branch currents and voltages in linear circuits. It explains each step of the method and applies it to solve practical electrical circuit problems.
Ohm’s Law and Kirchhoff’s Voltage and Current Laws (KVL and KCL) are the most basic laws of circuit theory, and the Loop Method uses them extensively. Because the Loop Method is very general and applies to all linear circuits regardless of their complexity, it is an essential tool for engineers who analyze and design electrical circuits.
This webinar covers a review of Ohm’s Law, KVL and KCL, assigning loop currents to each window of a circuit, writing KVL for each loop, replacing voltages with expressions in the loop currents, and solving the resulting simultaneous equations. It also emphasizes step-by-step problem-solving through numerical examples of resistive and AC networks, including the calculation of branch currents and voltages from the loop currents.
This 1 PDH live webinar is applicable to electrical engineers and electronics engineers, as well as other technical professionals interested in learning more about the analysis of electrical circuits.
This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with specific knowledge and skills needed to:
- Understanding the fundamental laws of circuit theory, including Ohm’s Law, KVL and KCL
- Learning how to apply the Loop Method to assign loop currents and write the loop equations
- Familiarizing with solving simultaneous loop equations to find branch currents in linear circuits of any complexity
- Learning how to find voltages across circuit elements and branches using the branch currents
