Course Highlights

This online engineering PDH course provides an overview of how to perform volumetric estimates of original gas-in-place and recoverable gas in natural gas reservoirs.

 

This course shows how to analyze natural gas composition data to determine specific gravity, molecular weight, critical temperature, and critical pressure. It also provides instructions on how to calculate the gas compressibility factor (z-factor), and estimate average values of porosity and water saturation required for the estimation of original gas-in-place and recoverable gas. These estimates will only be applicable to gas reservoirs under volumetric drive (not water drive) conditions.

 

Due to the structure of its hydrocarbon components, natural gas deviates from the Ideal Gas Law, and must be modified using the gas compressibility factor. The properties determined from the analysis of natural gas composition are needed for calculation of the gas compressibility factor and the gas expansion factor.

 

This 3 PDH online course is applicable to petroleum, chemical, and geological engineers who are involved with the production and distribution of natural gas and natural gas liquids.
