Liquefied Natural Gas Safety

COURSE NO: P09-004
PDH CREDIT: 9
Liquefied Natural Gas Safety
Course Highlights
This online engineering CPD course delivers essential technical knowledge and safety awareness required to support the design, operation, and maintenance of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities.

LNG and other petrochemical plants are built to bring a return on investment to their investors through their safe operation. This course covers the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure that these facilities are safe and reliable. As the Chemical Safety Board suggests: “If you think safety is expensive, try an accident.” Plant accidents can cause injury, death, public fear, and financial ruin. Entire facilities like the Staten Island LNG terminal and the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant were shut down before full operation due to safety concerns—leading to major economic losses for their owners.

This course delves into LNG safety technologies, combining both technical instruction and human factors development. While focused on LNG facilities, the principles and practices covered are applicable to a wide range of petrochemical operations. The course is designed to instill a mindset of safety and reliability, equipping the engineer with the foundational technical knowledge needed to make informed decisions in planning, maintenance, and operations. Above all, the goal is to uphold and advance the Liquid Natural Gas industry's commitment to being “Safe and Reliable.”

In addition, this course explores the detailed operation of LNG plants, including refrigeration systems, and the thermodynamics behind liquefaction, storage, transportation, and re-vaporization of LNG.

This 9 CPD online course is applicable to petroleum, chemical and mechanical engineers, as well as other professionals working in the natural gas and energy sectors who are involved in facility safety, design, and operation.
