Alberta Board Requirements

PDH's Required:
At least 240 PDHs/3 years (average of 80 PDHs/year)
PDH Reporting:
Annual based on your membership (registration) date: You are required to indicate only the number of PDHs you claimed for your professional development activities in the 12 months prior to your membership (registration) renewal date.
License Renewal:
Based on Annual Renewal: You are required to renew your license annually based on your registration date.
PDH Categories:
You cannot claim more than the maximum PDHs allowed annually in each of the six categories: 
  • Professional Practice: 50 PDHs/year (1 PDH = 15 Hours of work)
  • Formal Activity: 30 PDHs/year (1 PDH = 1 Hour of Learning)
  • Informal Activity: 30 PDHs/year (1 PDH = 1 Hour of Learning)
  • Participation: 20 PDHs/year (1 PDH = 1 Hour of Learning, maximum of 10 PDHs/year for community service)
  • Presentations: 20 PDHs/year (1 PDH = 1 Hour of Learning)
  • Contributions to Knowledge: 30 PDHs/year
You must include activities in at least three of the six categories.
Categories Offered by CED:
CEDengineering.ca is qualified to offer Formal Activity.
Course Applicability:
All PDHs should be technical in nature under the Formal Activity.
PDH Carryover:
If you have earned PDHs in excess of the annual maximums that you can claim in any category, you may carry those forward for a maximum of two years from the date of completing the activity and claim those on a subsequent Annual Report.
